A friend's friend is a friend

Chris, one of our members from San Francisco, has a very good friend named Spider SALOFF. He just loves Spider. He says she's very nice and also funny. I easily believe him, also when I see that she gives food and drink recipes on her web site and she looks like loving to try them... Oh yes, I forgot to tell you that she also sings very well... jazz and more.

Go visit her website HERE.
Heard worldwide as the co-star and co-creator of the internationally syndicated weekly Public Radio series Words and Music on PBS, Spider Saloff has received critical acclaim nationally and internationally. As one of the rare officially sanctioned acts of the Gershwin Centennial, her concert, Spider Saloff Sings Gershwin, has been touring the U.S. since 1996 and headlined the St. Petersburg Gershwin Festival in Russia (the birthplace of the Gershwin's ancestors).
Ms Saloff has played such renowned jazz and nightclub venues as New York's Firebird, Michael's Pub, the Russian Tea Room, the Algonquin, Café Carlyle and Birdland, as well as San Francisco's Plush Room, Napa Valley's Copia, and Chicago's famed Gold Star Sardine Bar, Toulouse on the Park, the Fairmont Hotel, the venerable Green Mill and the Plaza Tavern.
Other leading venues include the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, Wilmington Grand Opera, Wallingford Symphony, the Everett Symphony, and Town Hall and Dick Hyman's Jazz in July in New York.
Spider Saloff has recorded and performed with such jazz luminaries as Tom Harrell, Nick Brignola, Ray Drummond, and Dick Hyman. She has worked frequently with Larry Novak, Tony Monte, Steve LaSpina, and John Colianni (Mel Tormé's pianist for five years).
A five-time winner of the prestigious MAC Award, including Best Female Jazz Vocalist, presented by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets, she also received a special citation for her musical contributions from NARAS (presenter of the Grammy Awards).
Spider Saloff has five CDs released nationally on Kopaesthetics Records: 1938, Sextet, The Memory of All That, and A New Set of Standards: Her latest release is a Christmas CD entitled Cool Yule.
Television and radio credits include: The Bonnie Hunt Show (CBS), The Steve Baskerville Show (CBS), a one-hour feature on the Noteworthy Women series (Public Radio), and Studs Terkel (WFMT). She has done the voice-over work for several National television commercials, and has even recorded the audio narration for Chicago's Shedd Aquarium with television/radio legend Norman Mark.
Ms Saloff is a member of the Illinois Arts Council State Artstour Program and can also receive fee support through the Heartland Arts Fund, which makes booking this excellent artist and educator even more appealing and desirable.
"Woman does not live by jazz alone. My idea of the lush life is always going to include good music and good musicians, but it's also going to include good food and good drink. Sometimes two good drinks. I like to share, so I'm inviting you to stop here every two months for a new drink, a new recipe, and a restaurant review. And every recipe I share with you is guaranteed to be personally tested by me or by a friend" says Spider.
