THOMAS Pat - Brazil

I knew the very good singer Pat Thomas only thru those jazz album (I'll post them later), but Loronix made me discover a fantastic Pat's "Desafinado" album with Lalo Schifrin. Enjoy...

Here are Loronix notes:
It is amazing that Caetano has this LP and I'm very happy to share and introduce Pat Thomas and the music of Lalo Schifrin by this rare and obscure record. This is the first release of an international singer at this new journey of international Bossa Nova music. I'm not sure, but I think that many friends all around the world never had the chance to hear Pat Thomas. Let's see what happens here.
This is Pat Thomas - Desafinado (60's), for MGM, featuring the obscure Chicago singer Pat Thomas, the arrangements of Lalo Schifrin and the production of Creed Taylor. Personnel listing is also of note, which includes the guitar of Laurindo Almeida and the flute of Bud Shank, among others. This is self-explanatory, a true jewel kindly sent by Caetano to Loronixers.
Bud Shank (flute), Al Hendrickson and Laurindo Almeida (guitar), Buddy Clark (bass), Mel Lewis (drums), Frank Flynn, Mel Lewis, Frank Guerrero and Jack Del Rio (drums and percussion), Gerald Vinci, Amerigo Marino, Victor Arno, Paul Shure, Erno Neufeld and Robert Barene (violin), Joseph DiFiore and Alvin Dinkin (viola), Armand Kaproff and Edgar Lustgarden (cello) and Lalo Schifrin (arranger and conductor).

I love this album Daniel--her voice , the arrangements , the choice of songs are all wonderful. The mood is playful , sexy ,soulful and sensual--everything music from Brazil should be !--Tom

I believe that this is one of her recordings not available as CD format. Her voice sounds like fresh cool air in Summer. The condition of this album is so beautiful that I can hear every details. I wonder if you use any audio cleaner or not.

Did not care for this one , mostly because of the material ; just another attempt to cash in on the Bossa Nova craze of the time .
Her voice wasn't bad , reminding me at times of Teri Thornton . I would like to hear her voice without that echoey recording however . The string arrangements were as fresh as day-old bread .
It says 'to be continued' and I really hope to get a chance to hear those first two Thomas albums pictured at the top !

The English version of Samba de Uma Nota(One-Note Samba) is a highlight for me. I've heard some awful American Boosa Nova albums and can gladly say that this isn't too bad. The outdated arrangements really don't do anything for Pat Thomas's voice---which is beautiful in Lorez Alexandria kind of way.
